Tired of the AHS EMS Bullying? Let Your MLA and the Premier Know!

Writer's picture: ambulanceman4ambulanceman4

Folks, it’s time to shake things up a little. It seems AHS EMS leadership has been a little too focused on playing social media police instead of, you know, running the province’s emergency medical services. I mean, if they spent as much time fixing the EMS crisis as they do looking at websites like ours, we might actually have ambulances to send to emergencies once in a while rather than stacked calls! NOT ONE MORE MANAGERIAL DOLLAR SHOULD GO TOWARDS MANAGERS ATTACKING US!

We do not want to operate this website with the threat of AHS, their legal department, and the provincial purse hanging over us. This may mean that we have to tone down the hyperbole on our posts, but frankly, what are are trying to accomplish is too important to be side tracked by management's intimidation tactics. They hate us because we are right, and the front line seems to be agreeing more and more.

That’s where YOU come in. We need your help to remind these public servants what their job really is. Below, you’ll find a ready-to-go letter that you can send to your local MLA and email to the Premier’s office at premier@gov.ab.ca. Just head over to this page, enter your postal code, and fire off the letter below. Be sure to include the link to our post: My Complaint—Even in Retirement, It’s to the Table of Tears, so your MLA and the Premier can see firsthand how leadership is spending taxpayer dollars. Share this with a friend and by Monday morning we could have hundreds, if not thousands of letters sitting in the legislature telling AHS EMS to back off!

Subject: AHS EMS Leadership Must Refocus on EMS Operations

Dear [MLA's Name],

As your constituent and an Alberta taxpayer, I’m writing to express my concerns about how AHS EMS leadership is using their time and resources. I urge you to visit this website and review the content of the complaint outlined.

AHS EMS leadership's primary and sole responsibility should be the efficient operation of the provincial EMS system, especially given the ongoing staffing shortages and operational issues. However, it has come to my attention that rather than focusing on these urgent matters, AHS EMS leadership has been diverting attention and resources toward silencing critical citizen journalism, particularly that of Don Sharpe and George Porter.

In fact, Alberta Health Services (AHS) indicated in a complaint letter to the Alberta College of Paramedics that they have engaged their legal team to pursue Don Sharpe and George Porter, private citizens, for operating a website critical of AHS management. It is unacceptable that taxpayer-funded time and resources are being used for this purpose, especially when AHS EMS is facing such significant challenges under their leadership.

I urge you, through the Minister of Health, to demand that AHS EMS and AHS Legal immediately cease any action aimed at Don Sharpe and George Porter's journalistic efforts. Their full focus should be on resolving the operational challenges within EMS, not engaging in what amounts to a personal vendetta against a critical website.

As a taxpayer, I expect my money to fund better emergency services, not a crusade against free speech. Please hold AHS EMS accountable for their use of public funds and ensure that they refocus their attention on the day-to-day operations of the EMS system.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,
